About the Event
We regularly speak with other local farmer groups, and some members and facilitators have mentioned that it would be beneficial to occasionally get together. The Ditchley Estate are keen to convene members of farmer groups in the wider region (e.g. Thames Valley) and exchange ideas and experiences of working as a group.
Peter Thompson, who has been advising on Ditchley's conservation measures, set up the very first farmer clusters with the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Peter will give a presentation about the benefits of being in a cluster and important factors for success, for both facilitators and farmer members. Robert Hobill and David Hathaway shall give perspectives on the agriculture and wildlife management. We will provide perspectives from the NECFC, and shall take a farm walk to look at some of the farming and conservation activities on the Estate, including:
The 10 year conservation plan
Ponds
Hedgerow Management
