LAPWING AND CURLEW COUNT

Please keep your ears and eyes peeled for lapwing and curlew pairing up on your farm.  These iconic birds are a major focus of conservation efforts regionally and members have proposed we do our bit to help.

If you see a curlew or lapwing on your farm, please email anna.field@cotswolds-nl.org.uk with a what3word or grid reference of the location.  Anna will get in touch to discuss a further survey and ways you can help protect and encourage them.

If nests are suspected, we are able to offer funding to you to create a ‘reactive Lapwing plot’ around the nesting area to protect them, allowing you to continue to farm the rest of the field, whilst receiving compensation for the area taken out of production.
