Farmers are invited by the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission to join a paid, in-person workshop on how UK farming and food can cope with shocks and disruption in the years ahead.

It will be a relaxed, interactive day at FarmED discussing the kinds of disruptions that could shape the food and farming sector in the coming decades—from all-too-familiar challenges like drought and animal disease, to emerging risks like cyberattacks, extreme heat, trade wars, and global conflict. We’ll examine how these events would affect your business and debate practical actions to reduce their impact. Your insights will feed into recommendations for government and industry, with the aim of shaping a more resilient food and farming sector that works for farmers and the public.

The workshop is part of a collaboration between the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission and academic partners from the UKRI-funded project Backcasting to Achieve Food System Resilience.

Included:

  • Tea, coffee

  • A delicious lunch

  • A small payment for your time (£100)

  • Coverage of reasonable travel expenses

FFCC are looking for a wide variety of participants including farmers and farm workers across all sectors as well as input providers, abattoirs, mills, wholesale and distribution.

If you’d like to take part, EITHER reply to charlie.taverner@ffcc.co.uk with a sentence or two describing your business (location and type of enterprise) OR use the Eventbrite. Full joining instructions will follow.

Any questions about the workshop content or wider project, please contact Holly Chalmers on holly.chalmers@uwe.ac.uk.
